All this time away....

All this time away from blogging has really made me miss creating my own blog. Sometimes I get discouraged because I read so many beautiful blogs that are so creative, I sometimes feel like I can never match up to their creativeness/pure genius-ness. Instead of sulking about not matching up (which is ridiculous because every blog is so different and so inspiring), I am going to try my hardest to keep blogging and sharing photos and ideas. I am also in the process of possibly starting another blog. But we'll see :)

hello!

This morning, I decided to plug in my laptop just to look at some of my photos I have stored on here. Much to my surprise, Voila! The Internet is actually working! I can finally have my morning coffee and read all of my favorite blogs! It is definitely a lovely, lovely Sunday :)

birthday flowers!

my birthday flowers!

I was beyond excited to see a HUGE bouquet filled with purple lisianthus! They are one of my favorite flowers and are so rare and hard to find! I could of sat at the table and looked at them for hours. Nothing compares to a fresh bouquet of flowers. Especially when they were a surprise and delievered by the florist!

feeling un-creative...

I haven't been in the mood to blog. I still religiously read all my favorite blogs daily, but I have no motivation to do anything with my own blog. I knew this would happen way before I started Fleur de Lis. Sometimes my inspiration and creativity go into hibernation and I get bored. At least the sun is shining around here. That always helps when I go through creative dry spells. Maybe a spring road trip somewhere????

I am really loving this photo I took of my ranunculous bouquet. I swear, I could spend my life savings at Trader Joe's (where I found my flowers among other amazing grocery treasures.... hello frozen chocolate croissants! amazing! Taste like they are from a Paris Patisserie!.....totally going off subject here....sorry!)

goodnight weekend.....

It's Sunday night.....ready to watch a movie and relax after an afternoon spent in the kitchen making homemade vegetable soup. Currently filled up on soup, ham and cheese on a crunchy french baguette, and 2 pieces of cake :) Time to settle in on the couch and say goodnight to the weekend and get ready for a busy work week.

Weekends are never long enough.....

pretty roses

Happy Valentine's Day!

I was awakened this morning by my husband who was already up because he was the one who got up to get the door when my flowers were delivered. I was out cold and never heard the doorbell. So, I didn't see my BEAUTIFUL Valentine bouquet until an hour later when he woke me up. I will take some pics later and post some time this week of my purple roses. I'm not a fan of red roses and I hate baby's breath, so this bouquet is quite perfect. Dozen purple roses and lots of greens. Very me, very "not typical blah cliche red roses". I truly do have the best Valentine ever :)

So anyway, I woke up this morning from a dream that we were getting married again. I'm very adamant about renewing our vows at a few specific locations. Our wedding day was so fun, so beautiful, so loving, so perfect that I want to live that day over and over again.

First stop for our vow renewal....VEGAS!

I want to go to one of those insanely cheesy wedding chapels that are so beyond tacky with the fake flowers and pillars around the altar. I will even accept the garter that they give brides (I refused to wear one at our real wedding). I plan to wear a mini white dress, maybe my favorite red patent leather heels, and possibly even sunglasses to add to the Hollywood/glam/spontaneous Vegas wedding charm. Hey, why not? It's LAS VEGAS and you can do whatever you want there. Since I don't like red roses, I plan to bring my own bouquet (they give the brides a bouquet of roses...I researched the details). I love anemones, and black and white ones would look perfect. After the ceremony, which I would like to be at midnight, we will hop in our limo and drink lots of champagne and go play lots of Blackjack.

In 2010, I will....

I will have FRESH FLOWERS in the house. Cold, snowy Cleveland winters are in desperate need of something colorful and alive. I love having a fresh bouquet on the dining room table. Trader Joe's definitely has the best selection and the best prices. This bouquet in the photo is from my favorite little farm that sells fresh flowers and the most amazing selection of vegetables and fruits in the summer and fall.

Is it spring yet??

rue cler

Rue Cler is this eclectic, cobblestone street, filled with people shopping for wine, cheese, flowers, fruits, or sitting in restaurants enjoying lunch. The street is open for pedestrians only, so you can freely walk in the middle of the road. We arrived in Paris on Sunday morning, which also happens to be the big flea-market day right near Rue Cler. We stumbled upon stands filled with old antiques, vintage jewelery, and paintings by local artists. I also spotted my first Crepe stand, which we later went to for dessert after dinner. Nutella and bananas!

boutiques de fleurs

Simply stated, I love flowers. They make me so unbelievably happy. Every time we walked by one of the flower shops in Paris (and anywhere for that matter), I would have to stop and admire how beautiful they all were. There were such exotic flowers there that I don't normally see at home such as Anemones, Lisianthus, and endless bouquets of Dahlias (my all-time favorite flower!!). I could go on for days about flowers, but instead here are some of my favorite shots from a flower shop on Rue Cler in Paris.
